APPROACH
Littlewood Architecture was founded on the philosophy that all architecture has the potential to be extraordinary, not ordinary. Architecture should strive to be a source of delight and make the world a better place to be in.
We are a design-focused studio making quality design and international experience accessible to all. Our design expertise and process can be applied to projects of any scale or budget and we approach all projects with the same energy and enthusiasm. We believe that every project has the potential to be special.
Our approach is driven by two key principles focused around the idea of architecture being a response to people and place. No two people or places are the same, so no two buildings should be the same.
We believe that buildings should be designed around their inhabitants. Each project is always bespoke and puts people first to enrich their lives. We see our projects as a collaboration with our clients and offer a design response tailored to you. This always starts with listening to you and understanding your needs and ambitions.
We also believe that architecture should respond to and engage with its surroundings. Good architecture is grounded in a deep understanding of its context and contributes to creating a strong sense of place. Sustainable design and thinking is inherent in everything we do and we do not see it as a bolt on or box ticking process.

A boutique architecture and design studio committed to creativity and quality design.
What we do
We offer architectural services and masterplanning, providing a complete service from briefing, feasibility studies, concept design through to detailed design and construction. We have particular experience of working on challenging and complex sites and difficult planning applications, providing pre-planning, outline planning and full planning applications.
Affordable quality
Good design doesn’t have to be expensive. We will work with you throughout the design process, delivering ideas to ensure that you get the best value from your budget. We want to make the design process simple and stress free and will provide a transparent fee structure based on design work stages.
From small to large projects
We work at all scales and with buildings of all types and uses, from simple fitouts and temporary installations/ pop-ups, residential extensions and new homes, large commercial developments to urban regeneration and city-shaping projects.
We work locally and nationally
Based in Canterbury, we work across Kent, the South East of England and beyond.

Ashley Littlewood AADipl RIBA ARB
Ashley studied at the Architectural Association in London where he was awarded a scholarship and has since gained extensive international experience running a wide range of projects across multiple building types, sectors and scales. Ashley has worked for leading design practices in London, Australia and Hong Kong and has been responsible for the design for many award winning buildings.
Ashley is an experienced chartered architect based in Canterbury and is passionate about good design and the built environment. He enjoys working at both an urban and building level and has broad knowledge and experience across different building typologies and sectors including residential, commercial, workplace, education, hospitality, sports and public architecture.
